WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PICKED FIFTH IN A-10 PRESEASON POLL

Full Relase

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.
– The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their 2013 predicted order of finish for women's cross country and tabbed the University of Dayton women's team to finish fifth overall.

The Flyers are coming off a 2012 season in which they finished sixth at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. Dayton had two girls finish in the top 20 at that event, both of whom are returning this season.

Richmond was picked to finish first after a third-place finish last season. La Salle, Saint Louis, and Duquesne came in just ahead of the Flyers in the poll. UD edged out Saint Joseph's, A-10 newcomers George Mason, and Massachusetts.

The 2013 Atlantic 10 Championships will take place on Nov. 2 this year at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va.

Head coach Sarah Haveman talked about this season's outlook.

"Our team is greatly looking forward to this season," Haveman stated. "We have a very unified, focused group and I am looking forward to guiding them to reach their individual and team goals. When conference and beyond rolls around, we will be at our best and ready to go. I am very proud of how far these women have come and I look forward to them starting to reap the benefits of their hard work and dedication to be successful."

The Flyers begin their 2013 campaign next weekend, Aug. 31, when they host the Flyer 5K at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering, Ohio.
