DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team will be hosting its annual Red-Blue Scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 24. First serve will be at 7 p.m. at Frericks Center on UD Campus and is open to the public.
UD's 2013 roster will be highlighted by senior Megan Campbell, a 2012 A-10 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team selection as well as 2012 AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, who led the league last season with a .398 hitting percentage and ranked fifth in the A-10 with 1.09 b/s. Campbell will be one of three senior team members leading the 2013 squad along with Allyson Morey and Shayne Brown (.355 hitting % - 3rd A-10). Sophomores Janna Krafka and Alaina Turner, both 2012 A-10 All-Rookie Team members, will also play integral roles on the 2013 squad. Krafka was the team's leading passer last season and ranked fourth in the conference averaging 4.47 digs per set while Alaina Turner averaged 2.38 k/s last year, second-most among returning players.
Dayton (27-5 overall in 2012) will begin the 2013 regular season hosting the 2013 Dayton Invitational Aug. 30-31. The Flyers will open the year with a Friday evening match against Tulsa on August 30 at 7 p.m. Saturday's slate includes a 12:30 p.m. match-up with Northeastern followed by an 8 p.m. nightcap against Missouri State.
