FORMER FLYER BLASIK GETS SECOND RING IN AS MANY YEARS

DAYTON, Ohio - In 2012, University of Dayton baseball All-American Brian Blasik helped the Flyers win the Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament championship.  This summer, he was part of another championship run, helping the Quad City River Bandits win the Class A Midwest League title.

Blasik batted .308 with three doubles in eight playoff games for the Houston Astros affiliate.

Two other members of UD's 2012 A-10 championship team did not fare as well in the playoffs.  Mike Hauschild and the Lancaster Jethawks were eliminated one game away from the finals in a 15-inning loss in the High A California League.  In three post-season appearances, Hauschild had a 1.98 ERA, with three strikeouts.

Burny Mitchem's Traverse City Beach Bums also lost in the semifinals of the Frontier League playoffs.  Mitchem pitched in one inning, allowing a run and striking out two.
