DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will head back out on the road for Atlantic 10 action after playing the first two conference contests at its home field. The Flyers will head to Massachusetts Friday for a 2:30 p.m. contest before heading to Rhode Island Sunday for a 1 p.m. game.

Dayton is 5-3-3 on the year and unbeaten in A-10 play so far with a 1-0-1 conference mark. This season, the Flyers are 1-2-2 in road games with their lone win away from home coming at IUPUI. UD has not lost a game since a 1-0 decision at Maryland on Sept. 22. Head Coach

This year, Dayton is averaging 1.64 goals per game while holding opponents to 0.73, which ranks 23rd in the nation. The Flyers are also 21st in save percentage (.840) and 20th in shutout percentage (.55). Individually, junior goalkeeper

THE SERIESThe Flyers are 9-8-1 all-time against UMass and 12-7-1 against Rhode Island. Dayton was victorious on the road against both opponents last season by identical scores of 3-0.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTMASSACHUSETTSThe Minutemen are 1-9-1 this season through 11 games and is 0-1-1 in the A-10. UMass' lone win came at home against Fairfield back on Sept. 19 and the Minutemen have lost four and tied once since then. Head Coach Devin O'Neill is in his first season at the helm of UMass.

This year, the Minutemen are averaging 0.73 goals per game and giving up 2.09 to opposing teams. UMass has scored just eight times this season while Dayton has only given up eight. Senior Josh Schwartz is the top scorer for O'Neill's squad with three goals to go with two assists. Sophomore Luke Pavone has added three assists as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Buckingham has 53 saves and a .746 save percentage.

UMass is currently 10th in the Atlantic 10 standings after being picked to finish 11th in the preseason poll.
RHODE ISLANDThe Rams are off to a strong start this year with a 6-3-3 record overall and a perfect 2-0-0 in the A-10. Rhode Island holds wins over Fordham and George Washington in conference play so far as Head Coach Gareth Elliott leads the Rams in his second season at URI. The last loss for the Rams was back on Sept. 12 to Lehigh, and they have since gone on a 5-0-2 streak.

Rhody is scoring at a rate of 1.25 goals per game and allowing just 1.03 goals to opponents. The Rams lead the A-10 in shots and rank fourth in saves. Matt Sykes is the biggest offensive threat and leads the league in shots and shots per game, and ranks fourth in goals with five on the year to go with three assists. Carlo Davids and Ryan Oakley have three assists apiece as well. Goalkeeper Nils Leifhelm has 50 saves and a .794 save percentage in all 12 starts.

Rhode Island is currently leading the A-10 standings, a vast improvement on their predicted finish of 12th in the preseason poll.

LAST OUTINGDayton battled George Mason to a 1-1 tie after leading for the majority of the contest. Richards opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a headed goal, but the Patriots' equalizer with 12 seconds remaining in the game stole the points from host Dayton.

UMass tied VCU in their last game on Saturday, 1-1. Matt Keys gave the Minutemen the initial lead in the 18th minute, but the Rams were able to tie the game up with a goal of their own in the 60th minute.

Rhode Island kept their strong season going with a 2-1 win over George Washington in A-10 action, thanks to goals by Jon Cloutier (45th minute) and Dante Lamb (62nd minute). Ryan Oakley assisted on both goals.

TOUGH SLATEThe Flyers have a challenging schedule in 2014, having already played teams that are currently in the Top 25 and more coming up this season. UD opponents that are currently ranked in the Top 50 in the RPI include Davidson (12), Valparaiso (15), Saint Louis (18), UAB (25), Ohio State (29), and George Mason (49). The Flyers are ranked 38th overall in the RPI rankings.

FLYER SUCCESS The Dayton men's program has an overall record of 456-388-74 and three NCAA tournament appearances in its history. The Flyers are also 113-77-20 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and have six conference titles between the regular season and league tournament.

BAUJAN FAITHFULDayton has had outstanding crowds to help with home field advantage this season and currently ranks No. 25 in average home attendance. The Flyers are second in the A-10 in that category and come in ahead of numerous prominent programs including top-ranked Washington.

ABUBAKAR NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEKThe Atlantic 10 named Dayton's
Lalas Abubakar as the conference Rookie of the Week on Sept. 15 for his efforts at the UAB Tournament. The sophomore from Ghana played every minute and anchored a back-line that didn't allow a goal in the two-game stretch.

DAYTON PICKED 4TH IN A-10The Atlantic 10 Conference released its preseason poll and tabbed the Flyers to finish fourth in the league behind 2013 regular season champions Saint Louis, 2013 tournament champions George Mason, and NCAA Tournament participant VCU. Dayton was picked ahead of A-10 newcomers Davidson, Duquesne, and La Salle, who eliminated the Flyers from the A-10 tournament last season.

CURRIER'S IMPACTThe head coach of the Flyers has had success at every place he has coached.
Dennis Currier is in his 10th year at Dayton and holds a career record of 286-107-39 in 21 seasons and a 98-58-27 record with the Flyers. His career winning percentage of .710 ranks fifth in the nation amongst active coaches, ahead of programs like Maryland, Stanford, UCLA, and Virginia.
