University of Dayton women's soccer player
Nicole Waters was named a Disney Soccer/NSCAA D-I Women's National Player of the Week.
In the Flyers' lone match of the week, Waters scored a pair of goals and added two assists in a 4-3 double-overtime win against Richmond. The Terra Cotta, Ontario, native assisted on Dayton's first goal of the game, a chip shot from teammate Ashley Campbell, before knotting the game at three early in the second half. In the second overtime period, the junior midfielder landed a penalty kick for the gamewinner in the 105th minute, for a total of five points. The six points is a single-match career high for Waters.
Waters now has eight goals and 15 assists this season and 34 career assists, which moves her to third all-time at Dayton. She is first in the A-10 and tied for 5th nationally in assists (15). She is tied with teammate
Ashley Campbell for points with 31, which is tied for third in the A-10. She led the NCAA in assists with a UD single season record 17 in 2013.
Waters and the Flyers earned the No. 3 seed at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship which is hosted at University of Dayton's Baujan Field Nov. 6, 7 & 9. UD plays No. 6 seed Saint Joseph's on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. For tickets call 937-229-4433.
