NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their weekly awards for baseball on Monday and recognized University of Dayton senior
Robby Sunderman for his accomplishments on the field this past week.
Sunderman led the team with a .706 average, 12 hits, five runs scored, three doubles, and five RBI last week in Dayton's four contests. The senior third-baseman totaled 17 bases in 17 at-bats, and posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and .722 on-base percentage. In one of the best weeks of his career, Sunderman had not one, but two games in which he went 4-for-5.
Against Cincinnati on Tuesday, he went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. On Friday at Miami, Sunderman had four hits, an RBI, a double, and a run scored. Saturday saw another four-hit game with four RBI, a double, a triple, and two runs scored. Sunderman single handedly led Dayton to its first win in 10 games. He finished off the week with a 2-for-3 game with a run scored to cap off the week.
This is the first award for Sunderman this year, who was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Atlantic 10 teams.
VCU's Heath Dwyer was named Co-Pitcher of the Week with George Washington's Bobby LeWarne while GW's Bobby Campbell was named Rookie of the Week.
The Flyers (5-12) will host Toledo on Wednesday at Woerner Field at 3 p.m.
