SUNDERMAN EARNS SECOND STRAIGHT A10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their weekly awards for baseball on Monday and honored University of Dayton's Robby Sunderman with his second straight A-10 Player of the Week award.

Sunderman led the team for the second straight week with a .579 average, 11 hits, and seven runs scored while totaling 14 bases in four games. With a .737 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage, Sunderman anchored the Flyers in the lead-off spot. Just one week after batting over .700 and earning A-10 Player of the Week honors, the Cincinnati native helped Dayton jump out to a 2-1 conference record in two wins over Richmond.

The third baseman is currently on an eight-game hitting streak with at least two hits. He started off the week with a 2-for-5 outing and two runs against Toledo. Sunderman followed that up with another 4-for-5 game on Friday with three RBI, two doubles, and two more runs scored. Saturday, he added a 3-for-4 game with two runs and two stolen bases. Finishing off the week, Sunderman went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.

This marks Sunderman's second straight award and the third straight for Dayton. Also receiving A-10 awards this season are Zach Schira (Rookie of the Week), Charlie Dant (Co-Pitcher of the Week), Mark Giesler (Rookie of the Week), and Aaron Huesman (Co-Player of the Week).

The Flyers (7-14) host Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Woerner Field.
