CINCINNATI –
The University of Dayton men's cross country team competed well at the Oliver Nikoloff Track and Field Invitational at the University of Cincinnati this Friday and Saturday.

"We had competitive performances by six underclassmen in a quality track meet. This bodes well and promises success for the upcoming fall season. We also had a star performance by senior Tyler Roeth in the steeplechase," said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. "The meet was hampered by rain, sleet and wind but we proved we are a very strong cross country team by overcoming those obstacles."

In the 5,000-meter run freshmen Kyle Lach (15:19) and Michael Tymoski (15:45) ran personal best times. Junior Michael Russell turned in a solid time of 15:30.

In the 10,000-meters freshman Ethan Louis (32:56) and junior Maxwell Roeske (33:19) ran personal best times.

In the 3,000-meter Steeplechase, freshman Hunter Johnston finished in a personal best time of 9:55 and placed eighth for one point. Senior Tyler Roeth ran the event in 9:44.35 and was the overall winner, garnering 10 points for the Flyers.

"The Steeplechase was outstanding for us," said Davis.

The Flyers will be back in action April 4-5 at the Miami University Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
