DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team will head just up the road Wednesday to take on Wright State University at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Flyers enter the contest with a 20-24 record overall and a 9-15 road mark. Dayton is coming off a tough Atlantic 10 series at Saint Louis, but has gone 2-2 in its last four games. Most recently, the Flyers dropped an 8-5 decision to the Billikens on Sunday. UD is fighting for postseason hopes within the conference, but Wednesday's contest will be another non-conference challenge.
  • Wright State is 28-18 overall and 21-2 in the Horizon League. At home, the Raiders are 15-4 this year, including a pair of wins over Dayton. WSU is currently on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Youngstown State in conference play.
 
Dayton Notes
  • Dayton offensively is batting .273 as a team with a .386 slugging percentage and a .363 on-base percentage. The Flyers have stolen 75 bases on the season and recorded 116 extra-base hits.
  • Leading the way for UD is Robby Sunderman, who is batting .368 with 15 doubles, 18 RBI, and 17 steals, and Aaron Huesman, who has a team-high 36 RBI and .323 average. AJ Ryan and Alex Harris have added 29 and 27 RBI respectively.
  • The Flyer pitching staff has a team ERA of 6.01 with 216 strikeouts compared to 183 walks. Nate Harris and Nick Weybright are tied for the team lead with three saves apiece.
  • Getting the nod for Dayton will be senior Joe Wahl, who has a 6.34 ERA, 1-5 record, and 32 k's in 11 starts.
  • Dayton has a .964 fielding percentage with 62 errors and 39 double plays.
 
Wright State Notes
  • Wright State has combined for a .281 batting average and 102 doubles in 46 games this season. The Raiders have a .386 slugging percentage and a .364 on-base percentage, as well as 49 steals.
  • WSU is led by Michael Timm's .345 average, 36 runs scored, and 32 RBI. Andrew McCafferty and Sean Murphy are tied for second on the team with 29 RBI this year.
  • The Raiders have a team ERA of 4.62 and 305 strikeouts in 2014. Andrew Elliott is the main closer for WSU, having recorded 12 of the 13 saves for the Raiders to go with his 0.96 ERA.
  • Wright State's starter on Wednesday will be EJ Trapino. The sophomore lefty has an 0-1 record, 7.71 ERA, and two starts in 20 appearances.
  • The defense for the Raiders has a .963 fielding percentage with 68 errors and 38 double plays.
 
Last Meeting
  • The last time the Flyers and Raiders met was earlier this season on March 9 when host Wright State came out on top, 13-1.
