DAYTON, Ohio – Six University of Dayton women's soccer players were named to the 2014 Academic All-Ohio Teams, which were announced today.
Sophomore midfielder
Erin O'Malley and junior forward
Ashley Campbell were First Team selections. Sophomore midfielder
Libby Leedom and sophomore defender
Sarah Byrne were named Second Team Academic All-Ohio. Seniors
Allison Klinefelter and
Haley Keller were honored on the Third Team.
O'Malley, a native of West Chester, Pa., is a political science major. Campbell, of Bradford, Ontario, Byrne, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Leedom, of Florence, Ky., are all three pre-medicine majors. Klinefelter, a native of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., is a visual communication design major. Keller, of Noblesville, Ind., is a biology major.
To be eligible for Academic All-Ohio the athlete must have started more than 50 percent of the team's games; be a sophomore in academic standing or above at the institution; have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be a significant contributor to the team's success.
Dayton won the 2014 A-10 Women's Soccer Championship, the ninth A-10 conference tournament title in UD women's soccer history. The Flyers also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history.
