DAYTON -- The University of Dayton football team is one win from clinching the school's first berth in the FCS playoffs, and the UD Athletics Division wants the Flyer Faithful to help get them there.
Vice-President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan has announced that fans attending Friday's basketball season openers – the women's teams hosts Yale at 11 a.m. and the men take on Southeast Missouri State at 7 p.m. – will be admitted free to Saturday's football game against Marist that kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.
"We're asking the entire UD Community to support our football team on Saturday as they bid for a spot in the NCAA FCS playoffs," Sullivan said. "We will honor all men's and women's basketball tickets from Friday for entrance into the game. Simply show your basketball ticket for entry."
"Our basketball teams get tremendous support from the Dayton6th, but on Saturday we are looking for help from the Dayton12th."Â
Parking for all Flyer football games is free, and seating is general admission.
Dayton is 9-0 on the year and alone in first place in the league with a 6-0 record. UD is one of three FCS teams who are still undefeated in 2015. (Harvard and McNeese State are the other two.)
UD will honor its 33–man senior class in pre-game ceremonies. At halftime, one of those seniors will be the presented the Lt. Andy Zulli Memorial Trophy, a character-based award that is considered the most prestigious honor in the program.Â
Marist comes into Saturday's Senior Day contest 5-4 on the season, but 4-2 in the PFL and winners of four straight. The Red Foxes will be seeking to keep their PFL titles aspirations alive, working to maneuver into a three-way tie for first.
