KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its 2015 Division I men's soccer All-Americans Friday and named University of Dayton's
Amass Amankona to the Second Team.
The First Team All-Midwest Region honoree and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year earned the first All-America accolade for Dayton since Chris Rolfe back in 2004.
This season, the Ghanaian midfielder totaled 13 goals and five assists, leading the Flyers to an A-10 Tournament Championship and a second round appearance in the NCAA tournament. Amankona led the No. 1 scoring offense not only in the conference, but in the nation. He was also named A-10 Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-America by Senior CLASS Award.
Amankona is the only student-athlete from the Atlantic 10 to receive the honor this season and one of four from an Ohio school – joining Adam Najem and Richie Laryea from Akron and Liam Doyle from Ohio State.
