Game 1 – Dayton 5, Morehead State 3  - 14 innings
The Flyers earned their first win of the season over the span of two days of action as Dayton defeated Morehead State in the series opener 5-3 in 14 innings. Rain delayed the game midway through and the teams finished up the contest the next day.

The first two innings went by with the defenses and starting pitchers keeping the opposing offenses in check.

The game would go into extra innings as neither team was able to score the deciding run in the ninth.

The Flyers managed to load the bases in the top of the 10th, but were unable to capitalize.

It wouldn't be until the top of the 14th that either team would strike as sophomore Matt Poland ripped an RBI double to right-center, scoring senior Zach Schira. Sophomore Robbie Doring then followed with an RBI single of his own, making it a 5-3 contest.

In the end, the Flyers held on and picked up their first win of the season. Dayton totaled seven hits in the game as both teams combined for 38 runners on base. Gobert, Poland, and Doring provided the RBI for UD.

Starting pitcher Bradley Horn pitched the first four innings of the game, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. Freshman Tyson Schnitkey took over pitching responsibilities on Sunday after the 18-hour break. He went two innings and allowed two runs on five hits.

Junior reliever Sam Brunner had a great outing with four no-hit, shutout innings of work. Freshman Mason Kutruff (W, 1-0) earned his first collegiate victory with shutout 13th and 14th frames.
