GAME PREVIEW• The University of Dayton baseball team will play its first home series of the 2015 season this weekend as it hosts Ball State in a three-game set. The Flyers and Cardinals will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday at Woerner Field before playing a doubleheader Sunday starting at 12 p.m.
• The Flyers are 5-9 this year with a 1-2 home record technically, but have yet to play a game at Woerner Field in 2015. Dayton is coming off a hard fought 14-inning affair with Northern Kentucky on Thursday in which UD came up short, 10-8. Head Coach 
Tony Vittorio is in his 16th season and will be looking to get the Flyers back in the win column this weekend.
• Ball State is 8-7 on the season including an 0-2 road record. The Cardinals are coming off a 4-0 win over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday in their home opener. Head coach Rich Maloney is in his 10th year at the helm, and is assisted by former Dayton pitching coach Todd Linklater.
WHO TO WATCH - DAYTON• The Dayton offense is batting .228 on the year with 32 extra-base hits and 19 steals, which ranks third in the Atlantic 10. UD also has a .330 slugging percentage and a .319 on-base percentage.
• Leading the way is senior 
Alex Harris, who is batting .308 with 10 runs, five doubles, and five RBI. Fellow senior 
A.J. Ryan has a team-high eight RBI to go with two home runs and a .250 average.
• Pitchers 
Charlie Dant (1-3, 4.68 ERA, 20 k's), 
Noah Buettgen (7.50 ERA, 9 k's), and 
Bradley Horn (1-0, 6.00 ERA, 22 k's) will get the nods as the starters.
• As a pitching staff, Dayton has a team ERA of 4.54, which ranks sixth in the A-10. The Flyers have totaled 117 strikeouts in 127 innings as well.
• Defensively, Dayton has a .952 fielding percentage and 27 errors compared to nine double plays.
WHO TO WATCH - THE OPPONENTS• Ball State offensively is batting .261 with a .372 slugging percentage and a .330 on-base percentage. The Cardinals have 31 doubles this season and 11 stolen bases.
• BSU has four players with a team-high nine RBIs: Alex Call, Elbert Devarie, Jarett Rindfleisch, and Ryan Spaulding. Matt Eppers is the main basestealing threat with five on the season in as many attempts.
• As a staff, Ball State has a 4.48 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 134.2 innings of work. B.J. Butler is the team's closer with a 1.45 ERA and two saves in nine appearances.
• Ball State defensively has a .960 fielding percentage and 22 errors on the year.

LAST MEETINGDayton and Ball State last met on Feb. 17, 2014 in South Carolina at the Spartanburg Classic. The Flyers came out on top 4-3 in that contest thanks to a seven-inning performance by Dant and a pair of RBI by Huesman.
FLYER SMALL BALLThe Flyers have managed to score at least one run in every game this season and have not been shutout since May 7, 2014 at Wright State. Dayton also leads the A-10 in sacrifice flies this year as well.
MARATHON GAMEDayton and Morehead State started the first game of their series on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. By the time the game was complete, it was 7 p.m. the next day. The contest was suspended in the middle of the fifth inning and was scheduled to begin the next day at 3 p.m. On top of that, the contest went 14 innings before a winner was decided. Besides the 18-hour delay, the game took four hours and 15 minutes to play, resulting in a 5-3 win for the Flyers.
