UD BASKETBALL AGAIN DELIVERS STRONG TELEVISION RATINGS

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton basketball programs continue to deliver high performance both on and off the court. Led by WHIO's leading coverage of the 2014-15 college basketball season, the UD men's basketball team drew strong local television and radio ratings throughout the season.
   
On average, 30,000 households watched each of the games telecast on WHIO-TV. That equates to an average 6.4 household rating, led by the Atlantic 10 final vs VCU which drew an average 10.5 rating and a 20 share locally.

This year's ratings followed a strong finish to the 2013-14 season. The Sweet 16 game against Stanford, which also aired on WHIO-TV, averaged a 34.2 household rating and 40 share—and was viewed by approximately 164,000 household in the Dayton market.

"We've enjoyed a great partnership with the University of Dayton for decades and it's rewarding to deliver some of the strongest college basketball ratings in the country. Dayton fans are very special," said Fantine Kerckaert, Senior Director of Customer Insights & TV Programming at Cox Media Group Ohio.

Cox Media Group Ohio Leads The Coverage
The partnership with WHIO-TV dates back to the 1951-52 season.  In addition to games, WHIO-TV has also carried multiple UD coaches shows, including the current Archie Miller Show.

WHIO-TV is the No. 1 CBS affiliate in the country. Cox Media Group Ohio also produces the Flyer Men's Basketball radio broadcasts on AM 1290 and News 95.7 WHIO.

Radio broadcasts, announced by Larry Hansgen and the legend Bucky Bockhorn, also demonstrate the strength of the Flyer fan base.  AM 1290 and News 95.7 WHIO ratings continue to deliver large audiences, reaching an average 7,700 adult listeners per game. Many out of town listeners also tune-in to listen live through whio.com.

Strength Extends Regionally and Nationally
Nationally, Dayton's schedule was highlighted by a school-record 27 contests on national television in 2014-15. Dayton played a total of eight games on the ESPN family of networks and on CBS Sports Network, five on NBC Sports Network, two truTV and SNY and one on CBS and TBS.

Last season, the Dayton television market was the seventh-best in the country when it comes to ESPN men's college basketball for the second straight year, according to research analyzed by ESPN. ESPN examined the 56 metered markets that carried college basketball games in 2014-15, and ranked them by ratings.

This was the 13th year ESPN compiled the data and Dayton has always been in the top 14 markets. The Dayton area has been in the top 10 five consecutive years and six of the last eight.

Regionally, Dayton also has games broadcast on FOX Sports Ohio which reaches over five million households in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, western Pennsylvania, western New York, and West Virginia. The Flyers are also shown on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is a 24/7 sports network found across the state of Ohio on TWC channels 1311 HD and 311, whose content is also available on Local on Demand 411.

Dayton Women's Basketball Delivered Record Rating this season
According to ESPN, Dayton's regional final telecast against UConn was the third most-viewed women's Elite Eight game since 2012, averaging 1,419,000 viewers. The UD women's also appeared on a record number of national broadcast, appearing 10 times nationally on a combination of ESPN family networks, CBS Sports Network, and NBC Sports Network.
