NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released their weekly men's soccer awards and recognized University of Dayton senior Amass Amankona as Co-Player of the Week.

The Ghana native had a breakout week, totaling seven points, three goals, and an assist as the Flyers went 1-0-1 last week. Amankona led Dayton to a 4-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Friday with a pair of goals and an assist. He capped off the week with the lone goal in a 1-1 draw with No. 24/18 Western Michigan on Sunday. It was the first goal scored against the Broncos in six games this season.

Through eight games, Amankona ranks first in the A-10 in points (12) and goals (5).  

Dayton's Amankona joined La Salle's Mike Kirk as co-players of the week while Fordham's Janos Leobe was named Rookie of the Week.

The Flyers return to action Wednesday at home against Bowling Green at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
