NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released their first weekly honors for cross country on Tuesday and recognized University of Dayton sophomore
Emily Leonard.
Leonard was named Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week after winning the 2015
Rich Davis Flyer 5K Challenge on Saturday. With a time of 18:01.6, the sophomore runner set a new personal best and finished almost 11 seconds ahead of second-place. She led the Flyers to a third-place team finish.
Joining La Salle's Morgan Szekely, Leonard earned the first A-10 Performer of the Week accolades this season. Saint Joseph's Lindsey Oremus picked up Rookie of the Week honors as well.
The Flyers finished third at the Flyer 5K and will next compete at the Friendship Invitational on Sept. 19 in Cedarville, Ohio.
