NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton's
Taylor Vernot was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week, based off her effort at the Bradley "Pink" Classic in Peoria, Ill. on Oct. 14.
Vernot finished sixth, out of 267 runners, in 21:00.7, the third-fastest 6K time in UD women's cross country history. Teammate
Emily Leonard holds the all-time record with her time of 20:54.6 set Oct. 20, 2015.
She led the Flyers to a seventh-place finish at the Bradley Classic, helping UD beat out regionally-ranked Illinois, Toledo, Iowa, and Missouri.
Vernot has been UD's top finisher in all four races she's competed in this season.
For the fourth consecutive week, Dayton is ranked 13th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Regional Rankings.
The Flyers now enter their championship season, starting with the Atlantic 10 Championship at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10:50 a.m.
