Christopher Beaschler has been named to the STAT FCS Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top defensive player in the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision.

The redshirt senior captain from Ada, Ohio is a rare combination of success on and off the field. Just the sixth two-time team captain in school history, Beaschler is a 2016 a finalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy. He was a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2015. This year, he has been named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, the first step in repeating as an Academic All-American. A Mechanical Engineering major, Beaschler has a 3.71 GPA.

On Saturdays, Beaschler leads Dayton for the third consecutive year in tackles (80), solo tackles (49) and is third in sacks (3.0). He is also fourth in FCS football in career tackles with 376. The Dayton defense is second in the Pioneer Football League in scoring defense (18.7). UD is 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Pioneer Football League. The Flyers current sit in second place in the PFL going into Saturday's regular season finale at Marist.
