NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The University of Dayton women's basketball team has been seeded eighth for the upcoming 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship to be held March 2-6 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va. Dayton (14-13) will square off against No. 9 George Mason (11-8) at 11 a.m. Thursday in the tournament's second round.

This is the program's 21st appearance in the A-10 Championship and the Flyers hold an all-time tournament record of 20-18 with one title (2012).

George Washington (23-6), the defending Atlantic 10 Champions, captured the top overall seed for the championship via a three-team tiebreak over Duquesne and Saint Louis. The Colonials earned the number one seed thanks to their head-to-head victories over the Dukes and the Billikens. GW will receive one of four byes to the quarterfinals on Friday, March 4, and will face the winner of Dayton-George Mason.

The Atlantic 10 returns to the Richmond Coliseum for the third consecutive year and 2016 marks the fifth time in league history the Championship will be decided on a neutral floor.

First and second round games will be streamed live on the A-10 Network through Atlantic10.com and the A-10 mobile app.  Friday's quarterfinals will be televised on the American Sports Network (ASN) as well as online on the A-10 Network. Saturday's semifinals will air live at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, while Sunday's championship finale will be on ESPNU and streamed on WatchESPN at Noon.
