FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Dayton is in second place after day one of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by George Mason University.

The Flyers have 37 points, just behind Rhode Island, which leads with 38.5. The host Patriots are third with 32 points.

Highlights
•   Junior
Sarah Sepanski won the pentathlon with 3,406 points. She took first place in three of the five events: 60m hurdles, shot put, and long jump.
•   Dayton went 1-2 in the weight throw.
Erin Reese won the A-10 title with a mark of 18.91m and junior
Jenni Rossi was right on her heels with a PR mark of 18.38m which is a UD all-time Top 5 performance.
•   Freshman
Olivia Hummel qualified for the 1000m finals with a PR run of 2:57.87.
•   Sophomore
Taylor Vernot finished sixth in the 5000m run finals in a time of 17:23.25.
