AKRON, Ohio – The University of Dayton track and field team had strong performances at day one of the 13^th Akron Invitational.
 
Highlights
•    Redshirt sophomore Erin Reese took second place in the Gold Division women's discus with a mark of 48.95m. The discus is typically an outdoor event, but Akron's facility allows for an indoor discus competition. Reese's indoor mark of 48.95m broke UD's outdoor record of 48.84m held by Jodi Borges that has stood since 1999.
•    Sophomore Taylor Vernot led the Gold Division 5000m run from start to finish and took first place in a time of 17:21.63.
•    The distance medley relay team of Emily Borchers, Maggie Pryslak, Brittany Fisher and Chloe Flora took second place in a time of 12:03.93 which is the third-fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season.
