#UDMXC PREPARES FOR SPIRE INVITATIONAL

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's cross country team will travel to Geneva, Ohio this weekend to compete in the 2017 SPIRE Invitational.

Dayton is coming off a strong showing at Akron last weekend with numerous personal bests and Top 10 all-time marks. The Flyers are set to compete in multiple events again this weekend such as the 5000m, 800m, 3000m, and mile.

"After our strong start to the season at the Akron Invitational, the team is confident and ready to race again," said head coach Jason Ordway. "Setting a slew of PRs in your first meet is always a good feeling, but we are just getting started. Workouts have been going well and we are excited to compete against some good competition. This season is all about chasing times and working on our speed. The guys know that everything we do now will help in the fall."

The Flyers will compete in their second meet of the spring season against a loaded field of competitors. Dayton will go up against the likes of Ohio State, Akron, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Penn State, Maryland, and Michigan.

"The SPIRE Institute's Division I Indoor Track and Field Invitational is a great chance for our guys to go up again some very competitive teams that we normally do not get the opportunity to race against," Ordway continued. "The distance events tend to be particularly competitive and traditionally result in big PRs for many of the athletes competing. We'll look to take advantage of the incredible facility and competition this weekend."
