COOK, REESE, ROSSI TO COMPETE AT NCAA REGIONALS

Cook Qualified in Javelin, Reese in Discus and Hammer Throw, and Rossi in Discus

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Dayton has three student-athletes who qualified for the 2017 NCAA® Division I Track and Field East Preliminary Round hosted by University of Kentucky May 25-27 at the Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field.

Freshman Lillian Cook qualified in the javelin, redshirt sophomore Erin Reese qualified in both the discus and hammer throw, and junior Jenni Rossi qualified in the discus.

The event will be streamed live on ESPN.com via the SEC network.

Lillian Cook | Fr. | Seven Valleys, Pa. | Javelin
• Competing in her first-ever collegiate event, Cook broke Dayton's all-time record in the javelin at the Raleigh Relays. 

• Cook earned an individual Atlantic 10 title with another record-breaking performance in the javelin; a facility-best and UD-best mark of 47.84m.

• Her mark of 47.84m is currently ranked 30th in the NCAA East Region and is the fourth-best mark this season by a freshman.

• Cook was twice named A-10 Rookie of the Week for the 2017 outdoor season (March 28 & April 25).

Erin Reese | R-So. | Mt. Prospect, Ill. | Hammer Throw & Discus
• Reese holds the Dayton hammer throw (63.43m) and discus (50.87m) records, both set this year. She broke the hammer throw record at the Illinois Twilight on April 22 and the discus record on April 1 at the Oliver Nikoloff Invite hosted by Cincinnati and took first in both events. 

• Reese was named the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship Field Performer of the Meet after taking first place in the hammer throw (61.37m), second in the shot put (14.82m) and third in the discus (48.80m).

• Her PR of 63.43 in the hammer is ranked ninth in the NCAA East Region and is the second-best mark for a sophomore. Her PR in the discus is ranked 31st and is the third-best mark for a sophomore.

• Twice named A-10 Performer of the Week for the 2017 outdoor season (April 4 & April 25).

Jenni Rossi | Jr. | Middletown, Ohio | Discus    
• Won gold in the shot put at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 15.05m. She also took third in the hammer throw (52.17m) and fourth in the discus (46.76m). 

• Rossi holds the Dayton record in the shot put (15.14m) set this season at the Illinois Twilight on April 22. 

• Her mark of 49.64m in the discus, set at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational, is ranked 44th in the NCAA East Region. It is the second-best mark in UD program history.

•  Rossi earned A-10 Performer of the Week honors on April 18, 2017.

•  She was the 2016 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Field Performer for the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
