#UDBASE Announces Coaching Staff

DAYTON – University of Dayton head baseball coach Jayson King has announced the hiring of his staff for the 2017-18 season.

Tommy Chase, Travis Ferrick and Maxx Sheehan will all be joining the Flyers for the upcoming campaign.

"In Tommy, Travis and Maxx, we have three proven winners on and off the field," said Coach King. "They will represent the University of Dayton and our baseball program in an incredible fashion. They are truly a great compilation of people and coaches that will work incredibly well together and with our student-athletes."

Chase, who will act as an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator for the Flyers, comes to Dayton after spending the past season at Army West Point as an assistant coach and recruiting assistant. He also served as a graduate assistant at Southern New Hampshire University, a volunteer coach at the US Naval Academy, and video coordinator at UC Santa Barbara. Chase is a 2012 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he played four seasons for the Fighting Irish.

Ferrick also joins the Flyers from West Point, having served as the Black Knights' pitching coach in 2016-17. He will be UD's pitching coach this season. He was actively involved with on-campus recruiting and placing players on summer league teams while at West Point, and also directed player development, including nutrition, strength and conditioning programs, and mental awareness plans. Ferrick is a graduate of Boston College where he played four seasons for the Eagles.

Sheehan is a former player of Coach King's from Franklin Pierce University and will be Dayton's volunteer assistant in 2017-18. He graduated in the spring of 2016 from FPU, and in his time with the Ravens was a highly-decorated player. He was a three-year captain and a member of the 2016 NCAA Division II World Series team that won the East Region Championship. Sheehan was also named the East Region Tournament MVP.
