#UDWSOC Continues A-10 Play at La Salle and vs. Davidson

Flyers Play At La Salle Thursday and Host Davidson Sunday at 1 p.m.

• The University of Dayton women's soccer team (6-4-1, 1-0-1 A-10) continues Atlantic 10 action this week with a road match at first-place La Salle (7-3-1, 2-0-0 A-10) Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. ET at McCarthy Stadium. Dayton is currently tied for third in the A-10 standings. 
• The match pits this week's A-10 Offensive Player of the Week, La Salle's Kristin Haugstad, vs. back-to-back A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, UD goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns who leads the A-10 in shutouts with six this season. 
• The Flyers host the Davidson Wildcats (2-9-0, 0-2-0 A-10) Sunday, Oct. 1 at Baujan Field. Admission is free.
•  The home match will be broadcast on Spectrum Sports and A-10 Network (free video stream) with Alex Mikos and former Flyer Nina Vasiliu on the call.
•  Spectrum Sports is a 24/7 sports network found across the state of Ohio on Spectrum channels 1311 HD and 311, whose content is also available on Local on Demand 411. Spectrum Sports is also available in the former Insight areas of central Ohio, on channel 510, and Northern Kentucky, on channels 511 HD and 510.

THE SERIES
• Dayton is 17-6-2 all-time vs. La Salle. The Flyers have not won on the road vs. the Explorers since Oct. 4, 2009, a 2-1 overtime win for UD. Since then, UD has gone 0-3-0 at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia. The last meeting was a 1-1 double overtime tie on Oct. 13, 2016 at Baujan Field. 
• Dayton is 4-0-0 all-time vs. Davidson and have outscored the Wildcats 17-4 in those matches. The last meeting was a 5-0 win for the Flyers at Davidson on Oct. 6, 2016. Alexis Kiehl scored four goals in that match, and Micayla Livingston had two assists. Kaelyn Johns made eight saves. 

SCOUTING LA SALLE
• La Salle is 7-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the A-10, sitting atop the conference standings. 
• The Explorers closed out non-conference play with a pair of losses, a 1-0 overtime setback to Delaware and a 1-0 loss to No. 6 West Virginia. 
• La Salle bounced back with two wins in the opening weekend of conference play, a 3-0 win over Duquesne in their A-10 home opener, and a 3-2 overtime win at Saint Joseph's, last year's A-10 Regular Season champion.
• Three Explorers have scored a team-leading four goals this season: senior Kristin Haugstad, junior Maci Bower, and redshirt senior Danielle Marx. Haugstad is second in the A-10 in shots with 30 this season. 
• Redshirt junior Madison Bower leads La Salle with five assists (second in the A-10) and has also scored three goals, all game winners, which leads the A-10. 
• Redshirt senior Larisa Zambelli has played in all 11 matches in goal for La Salle. She has a .74 GAA, five shutouts and 43 saves. 

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
• Davidson is 2-9-0 overall this season and 0-2-0 in A-10 conference play. 
• Sophomore Allison Gray leads the Wildcats with four goals and nine points. 
• Junior Kendall Thomas and senior Becca Ravitz split time in goal for Davidson. Thomas has seen action in five starts and played 394:33 minutes with nine saves. Ravitz has six starts and appearances in eight matches and 595:27 minutes played with 29 saves. 

PHILLY HOMECOMING
• Junior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns is from Downingtown, Pa., located just outside Philadelphia. She attended Downingtown East High School and played club for Penn Fusion Soccer Academy.

FLYER QUICK HITS
• Dayton currently has the longest unbeaten streak in the A-10 with four matches (3-0-1). 
• Seven different Flyers have scored so far this season: Alexis Kiehl (5 goals - tied for second-best in the A-10), Micayla Livingston and Sara Robertson (4 goals each), Sidney LeRoy, Caroline Mink, Madeleine Morrissey, and Jordan Pauley have scored one goal each.
Kaelyn Johns has started every game in goal and has 58 saves and six shutouts this season. Her six shutouts lead the A-10.
Nadia Pestell is tied for fourth in the A-10 in assists with four.
• Head coach Eric Golz is in his first season at the helm of the Flyers. He previously served as an assistant at UD in 2011.

• Dayton will play at Saint Louis Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET. 

JOHNS EARNS A-10 HONORS AGAIN
Kaelyn Johns has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The award is for matches played Sept. 18-24. She also earned A-10 Defensive honors the week before.
• Johns posted back-to-back shutouts last week, moving her streak to four consecutive shutouts. She has six on the season to tie her career high. 
• Johns posted a career-high 10 saves in UD's 0-0 double overtime tie at VCU, good for second all-time at UD in a single match. VCU is currently the third-leading team in the A-10 with 18 goals this season.
• She backed that up with an eight-save, 2-0 shutout performance in Dayton's A-10 conference home opener against George Mason.

JOHNS NAMED TO TDS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
Kaelyn Johns was also named to the TopDrawer Soccer National Team of the Week for her back-to-back shutout performances against VCU and George Mason. 

ALEXIS KEIHL NAMED A SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATE
• University of Dayton's Alexis Kiehl was one of 30 NCAA® women's soccer student-athletes selected as a candidate for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award®, honoring those who excel both on and off the field.
• Kiehl is the only player from the Atlantic 10 selected to the women's Top 30. James Haupt, a senior on the men's soccer team, was also selected to the men's Top 30. Dayton is one of five universities to have a candidate on the men's and women's side. The other four are Army, Siena, South Carolina and Stanford.

KAELYN JOHNS EARNS A-10 HONORS
• Junior goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week for games played Sept. 11-17.
• Johns helped the Flyers to a 2-0 weekend with back-to-back shutout victories vs. Ohio (3-0) and Xavier (1-0 OT). She played all 187 minutes, had eight saves, and faced 17 shots.  This marks her third A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honor and first this season. 

PAULEY'S FIRST GOAL IS GOLDEN
• Sophomore Jordan Pauley scored a golden goal in the 98th minute to lift Dayton to a 1-0 overtime road victory over Xavier (Sept. 17). It was her first collegiate goal.

FLYERS UNDEFEATED AT BAUJAN 
• Dayton is 4-0 this season at Baujan, outscoring opponents 11-0 with 3-0 wins over Saint Francis (Aug. 27), Marshall (Sept. 1), and Ohio (Sept. 15), and a 2-0 win over George Mason (Sept. 24). The Flyers scored both goals against the Patriots while being a player down, due to a red card in the 30th minute of the match.
 
BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN 
• The Flyers are 222-64-22 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 66-12-7 at home, an astounding .818 winning percentage at Baujan. 

#UDWSOC - NCAA REGULARS 
• The Flyers have made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances in program history: 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2016. UD advanced to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001. The Flyers lost 3-2 to No. 24 Ohio State in the NCAA First Round in Columbus last year.

MAC HERMANN TROPHY WATCH 
Alexis Kiehl was among the 30 women selected by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) to the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. 
• She is the only representative from the Atlantic 10 on the list of standout student-athletes. 
• Kiehl, a forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, is coming off a phenomenal season. She led the Flyers with 21 goals and six assists for a total of 48 points. 
• Her 21 goals tied for first in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer in 2016. It's also the fourth-best, single-season effort in UD women's soccer history. 
• She was a 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region First Team and a 2016 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection.

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND 
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016).  UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five. 
• 2016 marked the 14th time the Flyers advanced to the A-10 Championship final.
• Dayton has appeared in 20 A-10 tournaments, earning a berth every year the Flyers have been a member of the conference. 
• 2016 marked Dayton's fifth title game appearance in the last six years.
