NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton senior
Emily Leonard was named the Atlantic 10 women's cross country Performer of the Week as part of the first conference honors of the season.
Leonard won the Queen City Invitational women's 5k in a time of 17:19.1, just .1 seconds off the school record held by Maura Bulgrin (17:19.0 set Oct. 1, 2010).
Leonard does hold the school record in the 6k with a time of 20:54.6, set on Oct. 20, 2015.
The native of Park Ridge, Ill., led the Flyers to the team title as well. Dayton finished first with 19 points. The next closest team was host Xavier with 50 points.
The Flyers will race next at the 39
th Annual National Catholic Invitational 5k hosted by Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 15. The women's race starts at 4:15 p.m.
