DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team celebrated the end of the 2017 season with the team's annual awards banquet at the Flight Deck at UD Arena today.

In addition to recognizing the five seniors: Nicolette Griesinger, Alexis and Kaitlynn Kiehl, Sidney LeRoy, and Abby Weigel, there were three major team awards announced.

The Most Improved Player Award went to junior defender Beth Kamphaus.

Senior Alexis Kiehl was named the team's Most Valuable Player.

Finally, this year's Stacey Martin Memorial Award was presented to senior Nicolette Griesinger. Martin's teammates Beth Autenrieb and Amy Kemmer. Wes Cummings gave the alumnae speech at the beginning of the banquet.

The award is given annually to a member of the team who demonstrates leadership on and off the field, and is in honor of former UD soccer player Stacey Martin, who passed away on March 28, 1998 during an exhibition match at Baujan Field.  The Flyers created the leadership award in order to commemorate and honor her name.
