Tucker Yinger â were named today to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 5 team, as selected by CoSIDA.
All three were Academic All-Americans last year, and all three will appear on the ballot for the Google Cloud All-America team this year.
Dayton's three All-District selections were tied for the most in District 5 with Purdue.Â
A 2016 Second Team Academic All-American and a 2017 First Team Academic All-American, Leisring leads the Flyers in total tackles (81), solo tackles (45) and interceptions for the second consecutive season. Â The Cincinnati St. Xavier product has a 3.74 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Finance. Â He is also Vice-President of UD's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Sexton was a Second Team Academic All-American last season. Â A two-year starter, he has 15 tackles this year, with 3.0 behind the line. Â He has also batted down three passes and has four QB hurries. A three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll, he has a 3.94 cumulative grade point average in Chemical Engineering. Â Hailing from Findlay, Ohio, he graduated from Van Buren High School
Yinger was a 2016 Second Team Academic All-American, 2017 First Team Academic All-American and this is his fourth academic all-district honor. Â With one game left to play, he is 27 yards away from the Dayton all-time career-rushing record. Â This season, he has gained 1,137 yards while averaging a career-high 7.3 yards per carry. Â He also leads UD in yards per catch (17.7) and has set career highs in receptions (22) and total touchdowns (11). Â A Mechanical Engineering major, the Columbus St. Francis de Sales product has a 3.81 GPA.
UD is at Jacksonville on Saturday to finish the 2018 season. Â Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
