NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dayton women's cross country team was selected to repeat as Atlantic 10 champions in the preseason poll as voted upon by the league's 14 head coaches.
UD won the 2017 A-10 championship with five Flyers finishing in the Top 20, paced byÂ
Taylor Vernot, who was third in 17:53.9.
Emily Borchers was ninth and also took home all-conference honors.Â
Â
"The women's team is led by a great group of senior leaders that have shown fantastic resiliency over the past year and into the summer," said head coach
Jason Ordway. "Our sophomore class has really developed and we have a large group of freshmen learning the ropes and looking to contribute early in their careers. We've put in a big summer and will be sharpening up as the season progresses to make sure we hit in the postseason again. It's going to be a fun and exciting year."

The Flyers are coming off a 2017 season in which they won the A-10 Championship, All-Ohio Championship, and the Queen City Invitational.
