ST. LOUIS – The Pioneer Football League has announced its all-league teams and the University of Dayton had six First Team All-Pioneer Football League selections in an announcement by the league office today.
Wideout
Ryan Skibinski was a unanimous first team member in a vote of the league's coaches. Â Only San Diego's Michael Bandy, and Jacksonville's Calvin Turner, Jr. were also unanimously chosen to the first team. Â Skibinski led UD with a 17.1 yards per reception average, and scored nine of his 10 receiving touchdowns in PFL play. Â His 48 catches and 13 total TDs were second on the team. Â He finished his career second in Flyer career receptions (150) and tied for first in career yardage (2,274).
Tight end
Adam Trautman, who was named PFL Offensive Player of the Year yesterday, was also named to the first team. Â Trautman is the FCS's top-ranked tight end in receiving touchdowns (14), receptions (6.4 per game), receiving yards (916) and scoring (7.8 points per game). Overall, he is ranked among the FCS's Top 50 in each of those categories, including third in the nation in receiving touchdowns. Â He also ranked first or second in the PFL in each of the receiver categories.
Redshirt senior center
Tim Roell and senior guard
Michael Niese were the Flyer linemen named to the first team. The Dayton offense is ranked first in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision in scoring offense (42.5 points a game) and red-zone offense (94.5% efficiency). Â That starts up front, and four of UD's offensive linemen were named All-PFL. Â (Two on the first team, and another two on the second team.) Â
One of the big beneficiaries of the work of the Flyer line was running back
Jake Chisholm. Â A sophomore, Chisholm did not move into the starting lineup until the last five games of the season, and yet he was second in the PFL in rushing (1,129 yards, 112.9 yards per game). Â His 7.4 yards per carry average led the PFL and is second in FCS. Â Chisholm also leads FCS in all-purpose yardage per game (204.3 yards per game).
UD's lone first team selection on the defensive side of the ball is safety
Brandon Easterling. Â Easterling leads FCS football in total tackles (12.7) and solo tackles (7.5). Â He also tied for second in interceptions per game (0.5) and tied for third in fumbles recovered (3). Â His nine turnovers acquired (six interceptions, three fumbles) were the most in FCS football.
Flyers named Second Team All-PFL were redshirt sophomore quarterback
Jack Cook, senior offensive tackle
Justin Karem, senior center Dom Sciaretti and freshman placekicker
Sam Webster. Â Honorable mention selections from Dayton were senior wideout
Kyle Butz and redshirt freshman Flyer
Zach Rumpke.
UD finished the season tied for second in the PFL with a 6-2 record, and was 8-3 overall.
