Newport News, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly men's tennis awards on Wednesday morning and
Joe DeMarco was named as the conference's top rookie for the second straight week. DeMarco won both of his singles matches this weekend, beginning with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Wright State's William Morton at No. 5 singles. He also made his debut at the top spot in the lineup for singles play at No. 1, defeating Wittenberg's Martin Mora, 7-6, 6-4. The freshman from Erie, Pa., went 1-0 in doubles play for the weekend, defeating Xavier's No. 2 doubles team with
Langford Hills by a 6-4 margin.
DeMarco is 12-4 this season, including a 7-2 mark in dual match play, and is currently riding a six-match winning streak. He is also now just the second player to win A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice this season, along with Davidson's Sam Kavarana.
DeMarco and the rest of the Flyers head out to Chicago this weekend for matches against DePaul and UIC. Dayton's first match in the Windy City will be Friday, March 15 at DePaul beginning at 7 p.m. and will take on UIC the following day at 2 p.m. (ET).
