MINNEAPOLIS – University of Dayton redshirt senior forward Josh Cunningham will play this weekend in the Dos Equis 3x3U National championship.  Cunningham is playing on a team comprised of players who have finished their college careers in the Atlantic 10 Conference.  UD's three time captain is joined by Saint Louis guards Javon Bess and Tramaine Isabell, and La Salle guard Pookie Powell.

The tournament is in its second year and will be held Friday-Sunday at Minnesota's Mall of America.  It is comprised of all-star teams of senior, who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility representing all 32 Division I conferences. The teams will compete for a $150,000 prize pool, with the champions taking home $100,000, double the prize money from a year ago. Additionally, the winners will earn the right to compete in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 Open National Championship, scheduled for May 3-4 in Las Vegas.

Cunningham just completed his Flyer career with 964 points in three seasons, 52nd all-time at UD.  This season, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds a game, while shooting (.639, 156-244) from the floor.  His career field goal percentage of .649 (367-574) is second-best all-time at Dayton.  Cunningham was a three-time captain and two-time All-Atlantic 10 Third Team.  Including his freshman season at Bradley, he scored 1,224 points in his college career.

Cunningham and his teammates from the A-10 will play three games in pool play – against the American Athletic Conference Friday at 3:20 p.m. ET, the Northeastern Conference Friday at 6:50 p.m. ET and the Big West Saturday at 10:10 a.m. ET.  

The top 16 teams will emerge for a bracketed elimination tournament on Sunday.  The semifinals, consolation game and championship game will be televised on ESPN 2 starting at 3 p.m. ET.  All other games in pool play and the bracket will be streamed live on Twitter.
