DAYTON - University of Dayton volleyball head coach
Tim Horsmon has announced the addition of Brooke Nichols to the 2021 squad's incoming freshman class. A 5-10 setter from Lewisville, Texas, is a May 2021 graduate of Hebron High School and plans to major in biology at UD.
Nichols joins Katie Gale (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy High School), Lia Hawken (Vancouver, Wash./Skyview High School),
Alyssa Miller (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West High School) and Taylor Russell (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne High School) to complete the incoming freshman class.
A four-year Academic All-District honoree, Nichols played four varsity seasons at Hebron under head coach Karin Keeney. As the only freshman on the 2017 varsity squad, she helped lead the team to the 6A State Championship title. Nichols earned All-District First Team honors in 2019 and 2020 after being named to the All-District Second Team in 2018. She played club with Instinct VBC, most recently on the 18 WG team under head coach Celine Drewnick.
"Brooke is a really good volleyball player, and we loved how she runs an offense," comments coach Horsmon. "In talking to her the last couple of months, we were impressed by her maturity, passion, and leadership abilities. We were fortunate to add another quality piece of the puzzle this late in the spring and think Brooke will be a great fit at UD and on our volleyball program."
