NEWPORT NEWS, VAÂ
– The Atlantic 10 Conference released it's weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday, and the Flyers took two of the three awards for the week, with
Hannah Osland being named Defensive Player of the Week, and
Noel Blain winning Rookie of the Week.
Senior midfielder
Hannah Osland was chosen by the Atlantic 10 as the Defensive Player of the Week after starting both of Dayton's matches last week, playing 193 of the 220 minutes in total. Osland helped fortify a Flyers defense that surrendered only one goal in two matches and four overtime periods on the week. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native also registered four shots on the week on the offensive side. The three-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient earns her first Defensive Player of the Week accolade of the season, and of her Flyers career.

Freshman
Noel Blain was picked as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for her performances last week, including scoring the game-tying goal against IUPUI at Baujan Field Sunday afternoon. The Canton, Mich. forward registered a total of seven shots on the week, with three of those being on target. Her sliding goal in the second half of Sunday's match helped the Flyers earn a draw against the Jaguars, their second of the week after a scoreless draw against the Kentucky Wildcats on Thursday, Sept. 2. This is Blain's first Atlantic 10 award earned in her freshman campaign, which is off to a stellar start scoring two goals and an assist in her first six matches played.
