Men’s Basketball Announces Atlantic 10 Schedule

Flyers Will Have At Least 13 Games Televised Nationally

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The University of Dayton men's basketball team will have at least 13 nationally-televised games in the upcoming 2021-22 season.  This news, along with the full Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, was announced today by the University and the A-10.

The A-10 also announced the league's national television schedule on ESPN Networks, CBS Sports Network and NBC Universal.

Counting games at the ESPN Events Invitational, Dayton will play six games on an ESPN outlet, six on the CBS Sports Network and three on NBC Universal.  In the non-conference schedule, UD's home game with Virginia Tech Sunday, Dec. 12 is on an ESPN-affiliated broadcast network.  All games in the A-10 tournament will also be nationally televised.

UD opens the conference season at Rhode Island on Thursday, Dec. 30.  Dayton then has two home games against the two teams who met in the A-10 championship game at UD Arena on March 14 – St. Bonaventure on Sunday, Jan. 2 and VCU on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

The Flyers have five home games and four road conference games in the first month of the conference season, three home and four road in February, and one each in March.  The final regular season game of the year is Saturday, March 5 at home against Davidson.

The Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will be played March 9-13 in Washington, D.C. at Capital One Arena.

Dayton was 14-10 in 2020-21, reaching the NIT.  UD has qualified for the postseason in the last three seasons since Anthony Grant took over as coach at his alma mater in 2017.  The Flyers reached the NIT in 2019, were granted the A-10's automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament when the A-10 championship was canceled, and the NIT in 2021.  UD has also reached post-season play six of the last seven years.

The Flyers return eight letterwinners, and add three immediately-eligible Division I transfers (headlined by Georgia transfer Toumani Camara) and a nationally-ranked recruiting class for the 2021-22 season.

Dayton's 13-game non-conference schedule was announced on August 4.  The Flyers open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 against UIC.  UD will also play an exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 1 against Cedarville.

Game times and the remainder of the Dayton men's basketball television schedule will be announced at a later date.
