DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's track and field team returns to action this week, as they will be in Bloomington, Indiana on the campus of Indiana University to compete in the Gladstein Invitational. The two-day event will kick off Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., and will begin the second day of competition Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

"After our successful opener at Kentucky, we're looking forward to heading to another invitational with great talent at Indiana University," commented head coach
Jason Ordway. "We had a chance to knock some rust off and hone in on what we needed to work on this week. Every week is going to be a building block towards a strong, competitive finish to the season. This week will feature a few student-athletes trying out new events, some debuting their seasons, and others competing in their specialties. It should make for a very entertaining weekend and one to build the rest of the season on."

The Flyers will look to build off of the quality momentum they established in the opening meet of the season, a meet in which several new Dayton top-five marks were set. These top fives included a new Dayton record in the 60m dash set by
Chante Clinkscale with a 7.43, leading her to be named the Atlantic 10 Women Rookie Performer of the Week, as well as the CollegeAdvantage Co-Student Athlete of the Week for the University of Dayton.
Kaira Granger also made a strong impact in the opening meet, posting a UD all-time top-five time in the 200m with a 25.48. On the throws side,
Taylor Flight placed fifth in both the shot put (13.2m) and the weight throw (17.51m). In distance running,
Lainey Studebaker posted a personal best and UD top-five 9:38.85 in the 3000m race, finishing in third place, while
Melissa Weidner placed second in the 5000m with a time of 17:53.55.
