Seven From #UDWSOC Earn Atlantic 10 Postseason Awards

Itala Gemelli And Mackenzie Lutz Lead Flyers On All-Conference First Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 released the end-of-season awards for women's soccer Tuesday afternoon, with seven University of Dayton women's soccer student-athletes receiving honors from the conference. Junior Itala Gemelli and senior Mackenzie Lutz were named to the All-Conference First Team to lead the Flyers.

This marks the third-straight season Gemelli has been selected to the All-Conference First Team, and the junior has had another stellar campaign in 2022. Gemelli ranks first in the Atlantic 10 in goals (12), game winning goals (7), shots on goal (42), and shots (89). The Rochester, Mich., native also ranks second in points with 27, adding three assists this season.

Lutz has started all 19 games for the Flyers this season, resulting in her second-consecutive All-Conference First Team selection. The senior defender leads the team with 1656 minutes played in 2022 and leads a defense that has allowed the third-fewest goals per game in the Atlantic 10.

Senior Alicia Donley marks the lone representative for the Flyers on the All-Conference Second Team. The senior has started all but two games this season for Dayton, and appeared in 18 of 19 contests. The defender ranks fourth on the team with 1507 minutes played and has added four goals for UD in 2022, which also ranks third on the team.

The Flyers also placed two on the All-Rookie Team. Ella Raimondi has started 12 games for Dayton this season. The Erie, Pa., native has one shot on goal for the Flyers and has played 955 minutes this season. Goalkeeper Batoul Reda joins Raimondi on the list, making 13 starts in goal for UD this season. Reda ranks fourth in the A-10 in goals against average and fifth in save percentage, posting a record of 11-3 in 2022.

Gemelli also marked one of three Flyers named to the All-Academic Team alongside seniors Jessica Sheldon and Audrey Steiert. Sheldon has started 17 games for Dayton, scoring two goals and adding two assists. Steiert has started 12 games for Dayton and is tied for fourth on the team with three goals, one of which was a game winning goal on Sept. 11 against Akron.

Dayton opened the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship with a 2-0 win over Massachusetts and will continue that into the Atlantic 10 Semifinals against Davidson. The Flyers will take on the Wildcats on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field. That game will be streamed on ESPN+. The two winners of Wednesday's semifinals matches will meet in the Atlantic 10 Championship match on Sunday on the campus of the highest remaining seed at noon.
