Baseball Picked Second In A-10 Preseason Poll

Flyers Fell In The A-10 Championship Game Last Season, Finished 12-4 In Conference Play

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released the 2022 Baseball Preseason Poll, with the University of Dayton baseball team selected to finish second, earning one first place vote in the process.

The Flyers were the only team other than VCU to earn a first place vote, with VCU claiming the top spot with 143 points and the other 11 first place votes. Dayton came in second with 122 points after falling in the Atlantic 10 Championship to the Rams.

Dayton was picked to finish third in each of the two previous seasons, and this year it was Rhode Island who was tabbed third with 101 points.

Saint Louis and Davidson rounded out the top five, placing fourth and fifth with 94 and 91 points, respectively. Next was Fordham with 83 points and George Washington was selected in seventh.

Richmond was picked eighth, and Saint Joseph's, the final team from last season's Atlantic 10 Championship field, was tabbed for ninth place. George Mason, Massachusetts, and St. Bonaventure rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

The Flyers will open the season on Friday at North Carolina A&T. UD will play three games against the Aggies to begin the 2022 campaign.
