Final Tune Up Set for #UDWT&F This Weekend

Flyers Prepare for Final Regular Season Meet This Friday

DAYTON – The University of Dayton track and field team will return to action this weekend, as they face their final regular-season tune up meet prior to the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend in Fairfax, VA. The Flyers will head north to the University of Findlay on Friday for a one-day meet hosted by the #19 ranked track and field team in the nation in the Findlay Oilers.
 
The Flyers are coming off of some strong momentum they have established throughout the season, which was showcased last meet, when they exceled at the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State. Lainey Studebaker lead things off for the Flyers, winning the 5000m outright with a 16:41.19, a personal best for the grad student from Dayton, and a top-3 all time mark in the indoor record books for UD. In the overall weight throw event, Taylor Flight finished second overall, with a throw of 17.54m. In the final event that the Flyers participated in on the evening, Chanté Clinkscale broke her own record in the 200m dash, winning the event overall with a final time of 24.22. Kaira Granger also placed fourth in the 200m, with a personal best time of 25.10, placing her third all-time in the indoor record book.
 
To start off day two of competition, sophomore Abby Carter won the 1 mile race outright, posting a season-best time of 5:03.59. Angela Braga also won her heat in the 1 mile race, finishing with a season best time of 5:24.71. In the 60m finals, Chante' Clinkscale took first place, posting a 7.47 time, while Kaira Granger took third place with a 7.63, her second-best time in the event this year. Emily Sreenan closed things out for the Flyers in the 3000m race, winning the race outright with a time of 10:02.26, a season-best mark for the junior from Lima, Ohio. Sophomore Zoe Chappelle also had a strong showing in the event, placing 8th with a time of 10:27.08.
 
Following Friday's meet, the Flyers will prepare for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
