DAYTON - University of Dayton men's tennis junior
Connor Bruce and softball freshman
Emma Schutter have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week for contests during April 4-10.
A native of Pittsburgh, Bruce went 3-0 between doubles and singles in a 2-0 weekend over A-10 opponents for the Flyers. He was 2-0 against Davidson, pairing with
Will Harper to win in No. 1 singles 7-6 before winning in straight sets over Alejandro Solares 6-3, 7-5. Followed that with another win in doubles play over Richmond, again pairing Harper to take the top doubles flight 6-1.
Hailing from Dayton, Schutter led the Flyers with a .636 average in a 1-2 weekend at league-leading George Washington. In Dayton's 1-0 win in Saturday's first game, she went 2-for-4 and followed that with a perfect 3-for-3 outing in the 4-0 nightcap loss. With her 2-for-4 day on Sunday, Schutter extended her reached-base streak to 18 games and tallied her 13th multi-hit game of the season. She currently ranks second in the A-10 in batting average (.398), hits (41) and stolen bases (17). Schutter was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week April 11, her second award of the season.
Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
