Casciola & Moore Honored As CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes Of The Week

Dayton Student-Athletes Will Be Recognized Throughout The School Year

DAYTON - University of Dayton football freshman Dante Casciola and volleyball junior Amelia Moore have been named the Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. This award is for contests held Aug. 29-Sept. 4.

In his first college action, Waxhaw, North Carolina, native quarterback Dante Casciola was UD's leading ground gainer with 13 carries for 96 yards and the eventual winning touchdown. He was also 10-of-19 passing for 89 yards. Casciola's 10 completions were spread among seven receivers.

A middle blocker from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Moore led the Flyers with 1.67 blocks per set and was second with 3.58 points per set over the weekend as Dayton took part in the GT Invitational, hosted by fifth-ranked Georgia Tech. In a 3-2 loss to Arizona State on Friday, Moore tallied a career-high 10 blocks (2-8) and then recorded 11 kills in the nightcap against Georgia Tech. In the Flyers' 3-1 win over FIU on Saturday, Moore had seven blocks and six digs to go with a season-high 13 kills while swinging at .458. She was also named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, her second-consecutive league weekly honor of the season.

Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
