HENRICO, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their 2023-24 women's basketball preseason poll and teams Thursday to kickoff A-10 Media Day at the new Henrico Sports & Event Center outside Richmond, Va.
Dayton was picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll, two spots up from where the Flyers finished last season. UD was chosen ahead of VCU, their 2023 A-10 Tournament opponent, last year's regular season champion UMass, La Salle, and Fordham. Rhode Island was tabbed as the A-10 preseason favorite ahead of Saint Joseph's, the 2023 A-10 Tournament Champion Saint Louis, and Richmond.

Mariah Perez was selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason Third Team ahead of the upcoming campaign. The New Jersey native is coming off a career season in which she was named the team's Most Improved Player. She started all 27 games and had career highs with 11.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Perez and the rest of the Flyers will open up the 2023-24 regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at No. 2 UConn, Dayton head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter's alma mater. There she will face her former head coach in Geno Auriemma.
Dayton is coming off a 2022-23 season in which it went 7-21 overall and 5-10 in A-10 play. The Flyers advanced to the second round of the A-10 Championship, earning Coach Williams-Jeter's first postseason victory at UD.
The 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament will take place at the Henrico Sports & Event Center for the first time ever from March 6-10.
