FCS CENTRAL – University of Dayton freshman true freshman wide receiver and kick returner
Gavin Lochow has been named to FCS Central's Freshman All-America Team as an All-Purpose Runner.Â
In his first-ever season as a receiver (he was a four-year quarterback in high school), Lochow led the Flyers in receptions (35), receiving yardage (402) and touchdown catches (5) and was third in yards per reception (11.5).
He also led Dayton in kickoff returns (17 for a 24.2 yards per return average). Â As a high school quarterback, that was also something he had not done before this season. Â His 24.2 yard return average was second among FCS freshman, tops among Pioneer Football League, and fifth overall in the PFL.
Lochow was already named a finalist for the STATS Perform Jerry Rice Award, which goes annually to the top freshman in FCS football.Â
