NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized freshman Jadyn Haywood as the track and field rookie of the week and senior Grace Homan as the field athlete of the week. Both of these student-athletes had exceptional performances at the Big Blue Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Haywood won first place in her debut 100m dash at Eastern Illinois this weekend. Haywood's 11.92 second finish is the fourth-best 100m dash in UD history while ranking first in the A-10. She also finished in second place in the 200m dash with her 24.97 second time. This is the seventh-best mark in the A-10. Additionally, her 4x100m relay team won first place and set the second-best time in the A-10 with their 47.22 second finish.

This is Haywood's second A-10 rookie of the week award for 2023, and the first for the outdoor season.

Homan set a PR in the discus throw and now has the best discus throw in the A-10 with her 46.15m throw. She also set the fourth-best shot put in the A-10 on Saturday with her 13.24m put. Homan set the ninth-best hammer throw in the A-10 as well by throwing for 45.29m.

This is Homan's second A-10 field athlete of the week award in 2023, as well as her first for the outdoor season.

Track and field will compete in two meets this week: the Texas Relays on Friday and the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Check back to DaytonFlyers.com for previews for both meets!
