DAYTON – The University of Dayton track and field javelin throwers,
Daniela Peralta and
Luisa Himmler, will be heading to Baldwin Wallace tomorrow to compete in the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet.
At 11:00 a.m., Peralta and Himmler will be competing in the javelin throw to attempt to improve their odds of qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Himmler ended the outdoor season with the second-best javelin throw in the A-10 and Peralta with the third.
At the A-10 Outdoor Championships, Himmler earned a silver medal with a 44.46m throw. Peralta also finished in third while claiming a bronze medal with her 44.27m throw. Fellow Flyer
Casey Bogues also finished in first place with her throw of 48.56m, although her career-best 53.80m throw at the Texas Relays qualified her for the NCAA East First Round.
In her rookie year, Peralta set three PRs in the last three meets she competed in. Her most recent competition at the A-10 Outdoor Championships was both a PR and the fourth-best javelin throw in UD history. Himmler set her javelin throw PR on April 22 at Ohio State University with her 44.97m throw. This throw also ranks as the third-best in Dayton history. Himmler's senior season exemplified consistency and improvement as all of her final marks exceeded 40 meters. In her junior year, her throws were all between 37 and 39 meters.
