#UDTF To Compete In Indianapolis For Third Time This Season

The Fairgrounds Invitational Will Host The Flyers' Return Trip

DAYTON - University of Dayton track and field will once again travel to Indianapolis and the Indiana State Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion for the Fairgrounds Invitational this weekend. The two-day competition is the third in the state capital of Indiana that the Flyers have taken part in this season. 

START TIME

  • Friday: Field events start at 1 p.m. with the weight throw, and the track events will begin at 3:10 p.m. with the 60m hurdles. 

  • Saturday: The field events will lead off with the triple jump at 10:30 a.m., and the action on the track starts at 11:15 a.m. with the mile.

LAST TIME OUT

Last weekend, the Flyers were in Louisville for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. The meet saw two school records fall and 24 new personal bests set. Senior Raegan Ernst was a clear standout performer as she set a new school record in total points to finish second in the pentathlon, PRing in all five events on her way to the record. The other school record came from the 4x400m team of Junior Mariya Washington, Junior Sydney Workman, and Freshman Simone Bessong. The quartet recorded a time of 3:49.68 in the 1600m relay, edging out the previous school record of 3:49.84. Workman also finished second in the C division of the 400m in 57.29. The other top-five finish of the weekend came from Senior Jadyn Haywood, who took fifth in the 60m dash. 

FLYERS IN ACTION

On Friday, Raegan Ernst will look to improve upon her #2 all-time mark in the 60m hurdles, while the duo of Jadyn Haywood and Simone Bessong both eye top finishes in a 60m race, which they both enter ranked in the top five of. Anna Newkirk and Ashley Alsko will represent UD in the 3,000m, Friday's lone distance race. To close out the first day, several Flyers will compete in the 400m, with Mariya Washington and Sydney Workman seeded in the top ten. 

The second day of competition on the track starts with Cara Mooney and Reese Kohnle representing Dayton in the mile. Haywood then enters the 200m as the top seed, with Bessong and Workman both also seeded highly. 

The throws events will feature the usual team of Rebekah Conrad, Anna Yater, Jillian Yates, Elaina Panagakos, Maggie Hofner, and Chloe Hansen. The high jump duo of Camryn Thompson and Riley Yost will also compete.
