LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Flyers were in Indianapolis for the Fairgrounds Invitational. They had a strong showing at the meet, setting three school records amongst five all-time program marks.
Senior Jadyn Haywood was named the Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week for her pair of wins in the 60m dash and 200m. In the 60m, she set a personal record and improved her second-fastest time in program history of 7.42. In the 200m, Haywood broke her own school record, running 23.96.
Senior Raegan Ernst broke the school record in the 60m hurdles, running 8.56. The third school record of the weekend was set by the 4x400m team of Mariya Washington, Sydney Workman, Grace Felts, and Simone Bessong in a time of 3:47.58, to break the record for the second consecutive week.
Other top five marks came from Sophomore Mia Gill in the 800m, who ran 2:14.65 to rank second in program history. Workman now ranks third in school history in the 400m with a time of 56.81. Juniors Cara Mooney and Camryn Thompson both earned top-five finishes in the mile and the high jump, respectively. Mooney came second in a personal best mile time of 5:00.56, and Thompson recorded a height of 1.71m to finish fourth overall.
FLYERS IN ACTION
Distance runners will compete for the Flyers on Friday in the 5k, 3k, and the Mile. Four athletes, Bailey Gross, Anna Newkirk, Marissa Pritchett, and Olivia Kindbom, will toe the line in the 5k, while Bryn Hothem will compete in the 3k, and Freshman Reese Kohnle will hit the track in the mile.
In Indianapolis, Raegan Ernst looks to build off of her record-breaking performance in the 60m hurdles from last weekend with another strong performance this time out. Jadyn Haywood will make her season debut in the 400m alongside Simone Bessong and Grace Felts. The 4x400m team of Mariya Washington, Sydney Workman, Lianna Shakoor, and Simone Bessong will look to once again lower the school record. In the field, the throwers return to the shot put this week, while jumpers will be represented in both the high jump and the long jump.
