DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team continues its four-match home streak Thursday, Aug. 24 when it hosts the University of Louisville at 8 p.m. at
Baujan Field.
The game's start time has been pushed back an hour from its original time due to excessive heat in the Miami Valley on Thursday.

WESSNER WINS A-10 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Sophomore forward
Mairin Wessner was rewarded by the Atlantic 10 for her strong start to the 2023 campaign, garnering the league's first Offensive Player of the Week award.
•
Wessner led the Flyers' high-scoring offense with three total goals and an assist for seven points in Dayton's opening week of action. After scoring her first goal of the season in
UD's 4-1 win over Loyola Maryland, she came back to score two goals and tally an assist against in-state foe Cincinnati in another 4-1 Flyer victory.
• The Northville, Mich. native leads the Atlantic 10 in points in the young season (7) and is tied for first with the most goals scored on the campaign (3), while Dayton is tied for the A-10 lead as a team with eight goals scored.
FLYERS' FOUR-GOAL FRENZY
• The Flyers have opened the season with back-to-back four-goal performances. It marks
UD's most goals scored in back-to-back matches since the 2021 campaign where they also scored eight goals in two games (3-2 win over Saint Joseph's, 5-1 win over George Mason).
NO PROBLEM FOR NOEL
• Dayton's first goal of its win over Cincinnati came off the right foot of junior
Noel Blain. It marked the first goal of the season for the Canton, Mich. native, who came into the campaign with five career goals.
WILSON NETS ANOTHER

Madison Wilson scored the Flyers' second goal of the game, giving them a 2-0 advantage in the first half. The senior has now scored a goal in each of
UD's games this season.
BENIGNO BAGS ANOTHER ASSIST
• Senior Diana
Benigno picked up the assist on
Wessner's second goal of the Cincinnati game Sunday, giving her two on the season. The Beavercreek, Ohio native has tallied an assist in both matches this season and now has 13 in her career.
SERIES HISTORY
• Thursday will mark the 16th time the Flyers and Cardinals have faced off in program history. UD holds the all-time edge, 11-4, but Louisville has held the advantage recently, winning each of the last four matches.
• The Flyers and Cardinals began play in 1985 and played one another for each of the first eight years of the showdown.
• Dayton won the first 11 matches against Louisville, winning by an average score of 4.27 to 0.82. The Flyers' 11-2 win in 1987 is tied for the second-most goals scored in a game in UD history.
• UD and Louisville have played at
Baujan Field eight times since 1985, with the Flyers holding a 6-2 advantage. The Cardinals, however, have won each of the last two in the Gem City, each by 1-0 finals.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
• Louisville comes into the match with a 0-1-1 record on the campaign, having lost to Xavier, 2-0, and drawing with Indiana State.
• The Cardinals have 19 returners from last year's team that went 6-8-2 overall, plus nine newcomers (five freshmen, four transfers).
• Defender
Karsyn Cherry is the top returning goal-scorer for Louisville, finding the back of the net three times during the 2022 campaign.
