DAYTON – The University of Dayton women 's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Baujan Field on Thursday night, taking on Kentucky under the lights at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flyers pulled out an exciting victory in their first home match of the 2026 campaign, as junior
Lauryn Contini notched her first goal of the season in the 89th minute to lift the UD over Toledo, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Dayton's first goal of the season was from
Olivia Baca, who found the back of the net in the 21st minute after a nifty setup from junior
Bre Mendoza and freshman
Reese Gallagher.
FIRING AWAY
UD finished Sunday's match with 34 shots, including nine on goal. It was the Flyers most shots in a game since firing off 35 against Wright State in the 2025 season opener.
Dayton's nine shots on goal were the most it has had since a 13 SOG performance against St. Bonaventure on Oct. 19 of last season.
SAVE OF THE DAY
Transfer
Kasey Cannistraro made four saves in her debut in net for the Flyers against Toledo, facing 10 total shots.
The Oakton, Va. native saved her biggest stop of the day for the final minute of action, as the Rockets rushed their offensive attack in an attempt to find the equalizer. Toledo's shot came from inside the box and Cannistraro sent the ball out of play to effectively end the contest.
COLLEGIATE DEBUTS
All five Flyer freshmen have made their collegiate debuts after just two games this season. Massillon, Ohio native
Campbell Wood played 24 minutes against Toledo on Sunday, registering three shots. Copley, Ohio native
Reese Gallagher played a career-high 69 minutes against the Rockets, registering the first assist of her career while also tallying five shots.
In the Flyers' contest at No. 20 West Virginia, Gallagher along with
Kamryn Hoffman,
Kelly McCandless and
Delaney Rollins all saw the pitch in their first game in a UD uniform. Gallagher and Hoffman have each started the first two games of their careers.
